Thanks for stopping by to take a look at our cool 1968 Commer Autosleeper. Never seen one? Thought it was a VW? Yep, this is something your friends don’t have. It lights people up at Cars and Coffee and is great to get the kids out camping or to the beach.

Commer was a British marque that made commercial vehicles like vans and buses for many years, primarily for the home UK market. The drivetrain was shared with other Rootes brands, the Sunbeam Alpine and Hilman. Originally this caravan was exported to, and sold in Canada, which is why it is left hand drive. Eventually it made its way to Washington State where mechanical and interior restorations were performed. She is very original and runs excellently.

Rarity

You won’t likely see another Commer in the USA. There are very, very few. You will see plenty of Volkswagen vans and Westfalia campers. Get ready for conversations because everyone does a double take and few have ever seen one of these.

The original paint shows a beautiful patina and some light rust along with a couple whiskey kisses that just add to the overall survivor look outside. No impact evidence or aftermarket paintwork is seen indicating a “no hit” life.

Minilite alloy wheels and radial tires

The engine, 4 speed transmission and differential have been rebuilt. The cooling system has been refreshed. Brakes have been serviced. The 1725 cc Sunbeam Alpine engine runs well. This is a traditional front engine, rear wheel drive vehicle. She runs, drives and stops.
