​​Original, unmodified, extremely rare European model 1977 Mercedes-Benz 508D RV with metric gauges(we went on a 1000 mile trip in 2022, it was fun and without issue). Came with various upgrades: Roof air conditioning, propane/electric heater, propane/electric hot water heater, generator, propane stove and sink in kitchen, bathroom with shower and toilet, vanity with sink and medicine cabinet/mirror, dashboard air conditioning, 7 matching brand new heavy duty (HD) light truck 16-ply tires all around, 7th mounted on spare (all bought and mounted in August 2022 for a grand total of $3,000, receipt included with transferable warranty, 2 new heavy duty batteries, generator and various other things which I will detail below. Two original carpets included in good condition, including the actual underlying carpet which is a heavy duty German fabric woven tweed, and a snap-in taught light blue protective carpet you see in the pictures. If you want to see the underlying carpet too, I can provide a picture of that too.

This 508D is about 45 years old.

it’s a very nice and cool RV as you can see in the photos and is a pleasure to own and drive, it’s based on a Mercedes truck official Freightliner partnership truck chassis for the Europe market with a Westfalia interior. Some similarities and sourcing for interior was Westfalia from the factory though much more robust and stronger than Westy for VW vans. They are seldomly available in the US, rarely kept in this condition and are typically heavily modified. This original 508D was always taken care of, and that is all documented with receipts and binders that come with it when you will buy it. It’s like a time capsule from the Mercedes factory in Düsseldorf, Germany in 1977 where it was made. In fact Düsseldorfer and Düdo (pronounced “DOO-doh”) are the semi-official nicknames for these campers in Europe.

Runs and drives well.

Engine runs cool and smooth, shifts smoothly, drives straight, stops well too.

Doesn’t leak fluids. Doesn’t smoke.

Tune-up, oil change, exhaust system and muffler and several parts (some lights and sensors, etc.) replaced in 2022.

7 new tires in 2022, we don’t drive it much, so they have not had much use. Certainly less than 100 miles on them. ALL 7 mounted tires are 6 weeks old and have manufacturer DOT (Dept of Transportation) official date of manufacture stamp on them of 4521, meaning the 45th week of 2021. Their age in useful life is calculated from the day they are purchased, not manufactured. It is common to see new tires being sold with 2-3 year dates of manufacture. We insisted from the tire company that ours were from late-2021. And that they would be Heavy Duty 16-ply rubber, not 12-ply, not 10-ply, not 8, etc.

Comes with in dash air conditioning, gets very cold when charged, has a slow leak. Charge is with a can of $6 freon and it lasts a couple months.

Comes with factory propane tanks, fresh water storage tank, gray water tank, roof AC, dash AC, built-in kitchen/bathroom with hot water

Comes with factory 4 Mercedes hubcaps.

Comes with factory full sized steel spare tire option with new tire (2022) that matches the rest of the tires

Was resprayed many years ago, it is still very nice, and looks shiny.

Some minor dents, scratches and bubbling started here and there on the body as expected of a nearly 46 year old car.

Original microfiche reader and parts and diagrams fiches included.

Original German road hazard flashing light with original batteries, still working 45 years later

2 original tables which securely mount in interior – one larger one smaller

Complete set of snap-in beige color canvas privacy curtains for front and regular movable curtains for living space privacy for rearward windows.

All windows including windshield are original Mercedes Sekurit brand. All the glass is in perfect condition.

Full size waterproof RV cover for outside use included in sale. That is also under warranty.

Small solar panel not yet installed is located in a bag in glovebox.

European headlights and fog lights are a Bosch and Hella and the Düdo has a rate option headlight wipers.

7 matching new 16-ply heavy duty (HD) light truck tires with 100 miles on them, that’s 6 in use and 1 mounted spare underneath. $3,000 grand total spent on those matching tires.

2 new heavy duty batteries, dated and replaced in May 2022

Oil/filter change done in July 2022, 300 miles ago.
